KEYS Executive Director Colleen Bennett was hidden in the audience at the Ilion School District's annual retirement dinner at the Crystal Chandelier, where Mrs. Moragne was being roasted and honored for serving the school district for than 30 years.

At the end of the roasting period, Colleen Bennett was introduced to make a special announcement.Mrs. Bennett shared excerpts from nomination letters from Mrs. Moragne's fellow teaching artists, Monk Rowe, Jane Tavalin Schwartz and Leigh Yardley.

Mrs. Bennett then announced that Mrs. Moragne was not only selected as 2006 Music Teacher of the Year, but because of her lifelong dedication to music education, had been selected for the Edna Mae Rawson Lifetime Achievement in Music Award, KEYS highest honor.
