    Diane M. Bender, Ph.D., ASID, IDEC, is an Assistant Professor in the Interior Design department at Arizona State University. Her teaching and research focuses on the use of technology in design practice and pedagogy. Her findings have been published in the Journal of Interior Design, American Journal of Distance Education, and Journal of Educators Online, among others. Current projects include the integration of online and studio education, and the effective assessment of the digital design portfolio. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and the Interior Design Educators Council.

    Diane M. Bender, PhD., is Assistant Professor in the School of Design at Arizona State University. Dr. Bender is familiar with many of the related design professions both through education and practical experience (Interior Design, Facility Management, Landscape Architecture, and Building Construction). Before coming to ASU, Professor Bender co-developed a series of highly specialized technology courses as a faculty member at Michigan State University for both students and practicing professionals. Dr. Bender is involved in research about implementation of technology in design practice and pedagogy. Principle areas of interest include the integration of distance education methodologies in design education, the recognition of classroom technology implementation in the faculty reward system, and the impact of technology on the interview process in the related design fields. Professor Bender is also an active member of the professional design community (ASID, IDEC). Professor Bender may be reached at diane.bender@asu.edu.
