I filled out an application and in no time was in an interview with the Program Director, Dennis Bender.He questioned me, and I could tell he was "feeling me out" - was I serious or not.I just said what was in my heart, that alcohol and drugs had me whipped and that Progress House is what my sponsor had suggested.

Dennis told me to be back by 5:00.

On the way there; however, my friend made a call to Dennis Bender (Director at PH) and Dennis agreed to see me for an interview.After some discussion, I was accepted into the House.

Dennis Bender, 56, is Program Administrator of the Progress House, in addition to his duties as a member of the Board of Directors. He holds an Associate of Science Degree in Addictions Counseling from Indiana Weslyan University. His previous employment includes Pathway to Recovery, Fairbanks Hospital and St. Vincent's Stress Center. His certifications include ICADDA (Indiana counselor alcohol and drug abuse, certified level II), NADDAC (National Association of Addictions Counselors, level II), IAAP (Indiana Association of Alcohol and Drug Professionals). Dennis is married with 3 children, 3 step children and 2 grandchildren. His hobbies include hunting and fishing.
