Indexmedico began in 1995, when Daniel Belluscio, M.D. a physician from Buenos Aires, Argentina, became fascinated by the wealth of medical information that was fast accumulating in the Internet, and how it would benefit the world's healthcare community and the public.
Realizing that most of the articles and other publications were in English, Dr. Belluscio began a campaign to remove the language barrier and make accessible, at least a portion of the information, in two major languages: English and Spanish.
By 1996, Dr. Belluscio and his team launched Indexmedico, a bilingual web site that summarizes relevant articles in Spanish, with a link to the unabridged version in its original language.
The intent is to reduce the time and connectivity cost to healthcare professionals, by providing them with a selection of articles summarized in their primary language, so they can quickly evaluate the relevancy of the article and decide whether to download and read the entire text.
To ensure that the information is available to everyone, Dr. Belluscio decided to make this a free service.

Recognizing the value of the service that Dr. Belluscio's team provides to the healthcare community, InterSol joined forces with Indexmedico to become a leading provider of free access to bilingual medical information on the Internet.
