12/03/2009 - Mike Bellamy from Buckinghamshire has been appointed as a Non-executive Director to the Board of Directors for Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Mike Bellamy from Buckinghamshire has been appointed as a Non-executive Director to the Board of Directors for Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The appointment was made by the Members' Council at their meeting in February and it is the first time a Non-executive Director has been appointed by the Members' Council. The appointment is for a three year term from February 2009.

Mike Bellamy has over 30 years experience of working in the NHS and has knowledge of the healthcare sector. He has been involved in strategic developments of community mental health services as well as specialist mental health services. Over a ten year period Mike has served as a Non-executive Director on the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust board and the Blood Transfusion Service board. He is also a member of the Thames Valley University Board of Governors.

Welcoming the appointment, Chair of OBMH, Janet Godden said "I am delighted that Mike will be joining the Board and I am sure his experience of the NHS will be valuable in supporting the Trust to deliver the best quality mental health services possible for our local communities.

Mike Bellamy Non Executive Director After graduating from London University he taught in a co-ed Grammar School for 3 years and then worked in the NHS in London for 32 years, 18 of which were as a CEO.Areas of particular interest were in clinical management models, the development of cancer services, Clinical Networks - renal, emergency care and for surgical services, workforce development and in commercial Joint Ventures.

Since retiring in 2002 he has worked as a management consultant and has also had a variety of non executive roles mostly in health care but also in higher education and with the criminal justice system.
