If you can see past the sometimes pretentious titles and often needlessly overblown instrumentation, there are some stunning moments here, perhaps best demonstrated by new single Time is Running Out which displays Muse at their very best, striking a chord deep within you with their moving melody and Matt Bellamy's distinctive vocals.

The two-piece, siblings Eleanor and Matt, are plagued to forever be compared to another oh-so-similar outfit but if this detracts at all from their own righteous praise then it will be a harsh world indeed.

Singer and all around virtuoso musician Matthew Bellamy is on the best vocal form he has ever been, and his guitar work isn't half bad either.Once the poptastic chorus kicks in you know you're in for something special; the track has an almost erotic touch to it as it progresses from sultry to downright dangerous, with a huge chunky riff, but its not over there. At the second chorus gallons more emotion is poured in, and layers of pure sound wash over you as the song takes hold. After all this, its still not over, as Bellamy erupts into a baroque wail which sends shivers down the spine.

Bellamy was apparently on magic mushrooms when he recorded it.It is also rumoured that the meaning of the song is his love for his guitar, or it could be criticizing todays new technologies such as the internet, which are supposed to be encouraging people to communicate when it really separates them.

Although on the album Origin of Symmetry the song begins with a crossfade from the end of previous track "Hyper Music", the version found on the single contains a 'clean' introduction.Likewise, the single version of "Hyper Music" has a clean ending.

"Plug In Baby" was to be re-recorded under the wishes of Maverick to coincide with an US tour promoting Origin of Symmetry.[1] As Maverick wished Matt to tone down the falsetto on the song, Muse left the label and "Plug In Baby", as well as the rest of the album, remained unreleased in the US.It is unknown if Muse did re-record "Plug In Baby" and whether this version still exists.

In an interview with James Matheison at the [V]HQ, Bent St, Sydney, in 2004, Matt momentarily forgets the meaning of Plug In Baby.

Matt: Umm ... (laughs) Uh, I can't remember now. (Dom and Chris laugh at Matt) Umm, what is it?
    ...
Matt: It's- It's all random, it just comes out- I mean, it's random, I've got no idea what I'm singing about at all, sorry.
    ...
Bellamy: "I think the chorus is probably referring to some kind of analogy of the touring lifestyle, of what it feels like being on stage playing or whatever it might be, but kind of saying that really, I'm prepared to pretty much sacrifice everything in my personal life for the sake of playing music."[2]

Matthew Bellamy: Hysteria is a kinda fat bassline with a groovy straight beat on it.

On the 2002 tour, Bellamy played the bass part on his guitar at the start of the song, instead of slowly moving down the fretboard as on the album recording. He occassionally still does this.

There was no better band to jumpstart day two of Coachella than British power trio Muse on the Main Stage: Lead singer Matt Bellamy's massive, operatic voice (sort of a combination of Thom Yorke and Freddie Mercury) absolutely filled the entire field, and their finale of "Stockholm Syndrome," with its breakneck metallic riffs, was as blazing hot as the Indio weather itself.

Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, announced a new agreement with Warner Bros. Records recording band Muse and songwriter / front-man Matt Bellamy which will result in all of the acclaimed group's songs being administered through one publisher for the first time. Encompassing the world excluding North America and Mexico, the new deal covers the award-winning group's first three albums, 'Showbiz', 'Origin of Symmetry' and 'Absolution', as well as related works such as live album 'Hullabaloo', b-sides and E.Ps. An earlier global deal covers the multi-platinum-selling 'Black Holes and Revelations', 'HAARP' and future works including the much anticipated new album 'The Resistance'.

The band's lead vocalist, guitarist and pianist Matthew Bellamy is also its primary songwriter and lyricist. His songs and the unique sound the band has created have met with critical praise and chart success around the world. The group's last two studio albums, 'Absolution' and 'Black Holes and Revelations' were particularly popular, with no.1s in France, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Ireland and Australia as well as top ten chart positions in many other countries. Muse is also widely recognised as one of the world's top live draws, twice winning the BRIT Award for 'Best Live Act' amongst a host of other plaudits including Q, NME and MTV awards. In addition, Matt Bellamy is growing his reputation as a composer, especially for films including writing the end title music for 'The International' which was released this year, starring Clive Owen.

We're delighted that Matt has chosen to entrust his entire repertoire to us and forge this deeper partnership with Warner/Chappell. We're particularly excited about the synchronization potential presented by Muse's full, eclectic catalogue of instantly recognisable songs, unforgettable tunes and powerful riffs. With Chris Wolstenholme plugging away at the song's frantic opening bassline, Dom Howard dropping the thumping post-apocolyptic rhythmic death march and singer/guitarist Matt Bellamy (who left this show in doubt following a freak guitar acrobatics accident in Atlanta that split his lip) dragging its opening escalating rocket launch on the strings of his guitar, the band launches into album track "Hysteria."
