Philip Bell is manager of human resources for SGL Carbon Group's North American Carbon Graphite Business Unit.SGL is the world's largest producer of carbon and graphite products for the steel, aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor industries.He is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the areas of labor and industrial relations, organizational development, and human resource information systems with an emphasis on areas in which SGL combines elements of both old and new economy manufacturing processes.

Before moving to North Carolina, he was manager of human resources for SGL's Global Semiconductor Business Unit in Dallas, TX. Prior to joining SGL, Phil served as director of administration and human resources for Qualitech Steel Corporation in Indianapolis, IN. With over 15 years of HR experience, he has also held key management positions with Elementis Chromium and HARCROS Chemicals.

Phil is a member of the national and North Carolina chapters of the Society of Human Resource Management; the Piedmont HR Association; the Burke County Personnel Association, the board of commissioners for the Hickory Public Housing Authority; and is a founding member and officer of the Charlotte Chapter of NAAAHR.In 1998 he was recognized by the South Texas Business Alliance as one of the "Top 40 under 40" business people in the region.A native Texan, Phil is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.He earned his BA degree in industrial psychology from Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi.Phil, his wife Linda and their two children reside in Hickory, NC
