David Bell, M.D. FAAPBoard Member, IACFSChairman, CFS Advisory Committee of the Department of Health and Human ServicesAssociate Clinical Professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of NY at BuffaloDr. Bell is a graduate of HarvardUniversity with an AB degree in English Literature in 1967, and Boston University School of Medicine with an MD degree in 1971.He completed pediatric specialty training in 1976, with subspecialty training in Behavior Disorders of Childhood.In 1979 he settled in Lydonville, NY where he operates a family practice.In 1985 he studied an outbreak of an illness that has subsequently been called Chronic Fatigue-Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, also know as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.He has presented materials at numerous medical conferences around the world, has published papers in leading medical journals and has written several books on this subject.Dr. Bell currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and as Editor of the IACFS Newsletter.The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently appointed Dr. Bell to the position of Chairman of the newly formed CFS Advisory Committee.The committee, for which he recently concluded his second year of service, consists of biomedical research scientists, health care experts, and representatives from volunteer organizations concerned with people with CFS.
