However, (Bell had) an overwhelming support of the educators and the public in general. My personal count of letters and phone calls was 130 plus in support of Danny Bell.' Board president Otha Anders said he felt Bell was the candidate most qualified to handle the transition to maintain continuity and stability and bring growth and alignment with the many mandates school system is under. Additionally, he added, the board members felt Bell could best establish a good relationship with the entire community. 'We had a lot of requests from supervisors, principals, teachers to retired educators and support staff that we choose Bell based upon his work ethics,' Anders said. 'He's just a good man - a hard worker who has honesty, integrity, knowledge base, educational background, leadership, and experiences. I did not have one negative thing come to me from anyone relative to Danny Bell - and that's unusual.' Bell, a Simsboro native, currently serves as the Lincoln Parish school system's director of curriculum and instruction. With 29 years of work in the parish, he has served as a teacher and principal.
