   For Coleman Bell, helping children is a natural. He was a teacher and principal for more than 30 years with Hillsborough County schools. Now he is director of youth and family services for the Corporation for Developing Communities.
   
   YO! has given one-on-one guidance and encouragement to children who easily could give up on themselves, Bell said. In some cases, the system has given up on them, he added.
   
   "We've had people on street corners selling drugs, and we've gotten them in school," Bell said.

   Bell said the staff has been getting the word out that YO! might be over soon.
   
   "Some of them feel devastated by it," he said. "Some kids on the outside waiting to join are upset."
   
   At least for the summer, the center's learning academy is getting money from the United Way for an eight-week financial literacy program that teaches children and parents to handle money. But, Bell said, "It will go away if we don't have additional funding."

   Coleman Bell was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. He attended public schools in Hillsborough County (Lomax, College Hill, Booker T. Washington and Middleton Senior High). He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A & M University (Mathematics) and his Master of Science from the University of South Florida (Administration & Supervision).
   
   Coleman Bell is presently the Director of Youth & Family Services for the Corporation To Develop Communities Of Tampa. He is also a professor at the University of Phoenix, Tampa Campus. Coleman Bell exhibits a passion for kids, prior to his current job assignment he was employed with the School District of Hillsborough County for over thirty-two years, serving in various capacities which included: Mathematics Teacher, Mathematics Department Chairman, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, Middle School Principal and High School Principal. Coleman Bell also served as President of the Board of Directors of Tampa Educational Television.
