Charlotte was born at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Vallejo, California and was raised in nearby Napa. During her junior year in Vintage High School, Charlotte traveled to St. Petersburg and Moscow in Russia. A prolific violinist, Charlotte was a member of the North Bay Philharmonic and the La Jolla Symphony. She moved to UC San Diego in 1994 and graduated in 1998. She started, but chose not complete a PhD in Biochemistry in the University of Washington and moved back to San Diego. After traveling for 3 months in Singapore, India and Bangladesh, she moved with her future husband, Govind, to Oakland, worked at Therasense for a couple of years before joining the Friends of Sausal Creek, as their Operations Manager. She was already in the Board of Directors for the organization. In July of 2003 she and Govind moved to Ithaca, New York after an adventurous cross-country trip. She is now a researcher at the Institute for Genomic Diversity and a graduate student researching invasive plant management at Cornell University. -
