Entries were invited from secondary school pupils in Ayrshire, Scottish Borders, Dumfries & Galloway and Cumbria, and this week campus representatives; Caroline Bell, Marketing Officer and Wendy Anderson, Student Recruitment Officer ventured out to present the prize to the winning student in a surprise assembly.
...
Wendy Anderson, Student Recruitment Officer explained that both the University of Glasgow and the University of Paisley offer degree level courses at the campus, while Caroline Bell, Marketing Officer, took over to explain the sources of further information.
...
Caroline explained that many of the students present would be unfamiliar with the campus and what it offers, but that it was possible to request a prospectus, visit the campus or log onto the website, www.crichton.ac.uk for more information.
Caroline also added that there was an incentive to go on-line and enter the competition to win an Apple iPod.
This lead her onto the purpose of the visit.
She said "I know that some of you entered the last competition we ran to win a laptop.
Which brings me on to the real reason for being here today.
I am delighted to announce that the winner of the laptop is from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and is in-fact in this room."
Caroline and Wendy went on to present the laptop to Sophie Heron (17), who entered the competition, at the Higher Education Convention organised by Connexions, and held at the Sands Centre in Carlisle on 8th July.
