   Ben was elected to the Board of Supervisors by the residents of Lehigh Acres on November 5, 2002. He has owned Ben Bell Insurance in Lehigh Acres for 17 years. During those years he has served the people of Lehigh Acres by being on various community and business boards of directors.
   
   Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce 12 years on Board. Past President 1996. Rotary Club of Lehigh Acres 10 years, Past President 1997 Community Health Association, 4 years on Board of Directors. Lehigh Regional Medical Center Chairman of the Board 2002.
   
   Ben and his wife Lynn have been married 37 years, and residents of Lee County for 27 years.

   Well known Lehigh Acres insurance man Ben Bell is running for a seat on the East County Water Control District.
   
   Bell is one of two candidates running for the seat currently held by District Supervisor Marion Parker.

   Bell is an Allstate agent who has been in business in Lehigh Acres since 1985. He is a former President of the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce as well as the Lehigh Acres Rotary Club. Bell serves on the board of directors of the Community Health Association, a Lehigh Acres charitable foundation, and the hospital board.
   
   This is his first bid for public office in Florida, he said.
   
   After years of turmoil, the elected members of the East County Water Control District are running a smoothly functioning operation, Bell said. He wants to keep it that way.
   
   Bell said if elected he will bring his years of business experience to the state created drainage district that is in charge of spending millions of dollars collected from the taxpayers of Lehigh Acres.
   
   "I'm involved in this community, and it is something that I want to do," he said.

   They will also be building a new office building, Bell said.
   
   "They got a gem in Harns Marsh that Lehigh Acres needs to use," he said. "The canal system is a recreational asset. It is a natural greenway that runs throughout this community."
   
   Bell pointed proudly to the recent agreement between the district and the Kiwanis Club of Lehigh Acres that turns the right-of-way along the Able Canal between Williams Avenue and Texas Road into a park.
   
   Bell said he has been with Allstate for 27 years. He moved to Florida in 1975. He is originally from New Jersey. At the age of 21, he was elected to the Republican Executive Committee for Burlington County, New Jersey. Bell holds a chemical engineering degree.
