Steve Belknat, General Manager of the Balcones Country Club, knows first hand how important that first response is, after a patron suffered a heart attack near the pool area of his club. After CPR efforts were unsuccessful, the fire department arrived shortly with an AED and revived the victim's heart.
Now his employees are getting trained in CPR and AED instruction.
"In facilities that accommodate and entertain large audiences, there needs to be a higher standard of care in the urgent first few minutes of a cardiac arrest," says Belknat. "The Red Cross AED training is quick and effective, allowing more and more facilities to considerimplementing AED equipment in their systems."
