   Last February, Alyssa Belk was sitting in a classroom.
   
   This year, she's in charge of one.
   
   The 365-day period has been a whirlwind of changes: Belk earned a teaching degree, got a job at Study Middle School, and now spends her days explaining math to 70 seventh-graders. The hardest part isn't what she teaches, though. It's what she's learned:

   The same things that Belk had to overcome in the beginning - her age and lack of experience - are now what students like the most.
   
   They stop by her classroom with stories, say hi to her in the hall. There's about a 12-year age difference between the students and their teacher, but Belk says she relates.
   
   "It wasn't that long ago that I was a teenager myself," she said.
