In 1998 , $3 million was spent on restoration of the Oaks course by architect Jan Beljan of Tom Fazio design. Fazio , with his late uncle , George Fazio , designed the Oaks in 1971 and the Cypress in 1972. The restoration added new tees , both lengthening and shortening it , added some elevation changes , rebuilt the greens to USGA specs. , and improved turf and landscaping. Palm-Aire is 1600 acres of condominiums and park-like playground on the west side of Pompano Beach , between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike. It has 13 , 000 residents and 2000 golf members. The five golf courses play out of two clubhouses , called the Palms and the Oaks. The older Palms , near the hotel , serves the Palms , Pines , and Sabals courses. -
