Shaw came to Onion Creek from real estate developer and manager Bruce Belin and Associates, where he was director of operations for three years, running four of Belin's five clubs. Prior to that time, Shaw was manager at the Falls Country Club, New Ulna, TX. A graduate of the hotel and restaurant school at the University of Houston, he began his career as assistant manager at Sugar Creek Country Club in Sugarland, TX. He was clubhouse manager at Sweetwater Country Club when it opened in 1983 for the the 1983 LPGA Championship.
Construction has begun on the clubhouse for the Oregon Golf Club in Portland, OR. The club is being developed by Daioh International USA Corp. Clubhouse architects on the $ 5 million, 33, 000-square-foot clubhouse are William Zmistowski Associates. Former PGA touring pro Pat Fitzsimmons will be the golf professional for the 7, 100 yard, par 72 championship golf course, with a 12, 000-square-foot putting green, practice tees, teaching tee, short game practice area, and remote tee for master classes. Other features include an estate-like lawn for banquet tents, tennis courts, and a swimming complex.
