Alletta Belin founded Belin & Sugarman, in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2000. Belin & Sugarman practices environmental and water law, representing non-profit organizations, tribal and governmental entities, and some individuals. Ms. Belin is also New Mexico Counsel for Advocates for the West, a Rocky Mountain regional environmental law firm. Ms. Belin began her work in California, first at the Center for Law in the Public Interest in Los Angeles, and later with Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger in San Francisco and Santa Fe. From 1993 until April 1999, she ran the environment and ratepayer division of the New Mexico Attorney General's office. Ms. Belin is a 1973 graduate of Stanford University (Phi Beta Kappa), and a 1977 graduate of Stanford Law School.
