Midori Hargrave, a 1999 Charlottesville High School graduate who is majoring in political science at James Madison University, said some of the people she met at 300 homes while going door to door seemed surprised that Bell was knocking on doors in a non-election year.

One resident "was really surprised" at learning the politician knocking on doors was not on the ballot this year but was out soliciting constituent opinions.
