Anita C. Belik has been teaching for 32 years, 29 of them as a seventh grade science teacher in the Bourbonnais grade school district. Prior to that she taught for two years at St. Thomas Moore in Chicago. Mrs. Belik graduated from Chicago State University where she earned a BA in Education in 1969 and went on to earn a masters in science education in 1980 from GSU. Obviously, Anita's never been sorry she became a teacher. 'I love sharing knowledge with others, especially kids who have natural curiosity about nature and the world around them."
...
Mrs. Belik has faced many tough challenges during the course of her career, but very possibly the toughest is ahead for her. She is retiring at the end of the school year and has set a personal challenge: ".. . hiking the entire Appalachian Trail, all 1,500 miles; and climbing Long's Peak with an elevation of 14,2~0 feet." She is hoping, "...to have a life, after teaching!" Mrs. Belik and her husband Robert B. have been married for 30 years.
