   Ali Belhaj is the CEO of SOFILOG and a board member of several companies operating in the Real Estate, Citrus and Olive Oil industries. He also manages the Companie Financière d'Investissements, a financial holding company. Mr. Belhaj is the founder and President of the Alliance des Libertés political party. A former Member of Parliament (1993-2002), and a former mayor of the Dar-Bouazza Casablanca community (1992-94), he is also the President of Maroc 2020, a Casablanca-based Think Tank founded in 1995 to promote democracy, free market economics and a civil society. Ali is also a member of the Mediterranean Development Forum (MDF) Executive Committee with the World Bank, a member of UNDP and of the Global Leaders of Tomorrow organization (part of the World Economic Forum). He chaired the CGEM sub-committee for ethics in 2000. In addition to directing these political and civil society activities Ali continues volunteering on School Boards (incl. George Washington American School in Casablanca) and was the Moroccan Representative at the US National Prayer Breakfast. Ali was educated in the United States and holds a Masters in Business Administration from University of Southern California , Los Angeles (1985).

   The result of such initiatives is a new sense of municipality, said Ali Belhaj, founder of a research organization, Maroc 2020, and president of the Alliance des Libert,s, a political party founded in 2002 that has half a dozen representatives on the City Council. "You can almost feel the way Casablanca is finally building itself into a city," Belhaj said.

   Ali Belhaj, is the President of Maroc 2020 (a Moroccan think thank), and has been a Member of the Moroccan parliament since 1993 (re-elected in February 2000), as well as being a member of the city council Casablanca Dar Bouazza (former mayor from 1992-1994). Other positions include being a board member of businesses in real-estate, agribusiness (citrus farms), communication etc, and many different non-governmental organisations (e.g. George,s Washington Academy, Middle East University, Moroccan American Business Council, Mediterranean Development Forum (with the World Bank), Foreign Policy Association (FPA)). Ali was also a member of the Global Leader Of Tomorrow 1999 (GLT ) , World Economic Forum (Davos).
