It can make you pull your car over to the side of the road and cry because there is such a connection, says Jeanne Belfy, professor of music, and oboe and music history teacher at Boise State University.THE LOVE CONNECTION"It's well-documented and has been known by scholars and philosophers for millennia," Belfy says.More recently, scientists and neurologists are finding there is a physical reason.A song that stirs an emotion becomes neurologically linked to a personal event, similar to the olfactory association, when you get a whiff of Chanel No. 5.But music is more emotional. Why?"The music recharges the emotion experienced during, or as a result of, the personal event," Belfy says.
