To be more knowledgeable and to better serve seniors Suzanne began taking courses related to the aging process, studying gerontology specializing in Alzheimer's and other dementias.
During her studies Suzanne began to realize that services to the elderly were inadequate or not available and that a service that dealt exclusively to seniors' and their needs was genuinely needed. So, in 1996 she started For Seniors Only, which has allowed many clients to continue to lead independent lives.Something that at one time may not have been possible.
Suzanne's friendly caring demeanour, her patience and compassion have touched those around her and she expects these same qualities from her well-trained staff.A staff that is skilled in palliative care, attending to clients in their own homes or to clients that are in nursing homes.
Although very busy with her company, Suzanne finds the time to be active in her community. She is currently a member of the Business Professional Women (BPW) and is a chairperson for International night, a seminar that is sponsored by the BPW.Also, as a member of her church she felt the importance to give back to the community and became the President Elect of the Catholic Women's League, a proud honour for her.Suzanne also finds the time to sit on the Coffee Break Committee organizing business to help in the fight for the Alzheimer's Society.Fittingly enough, with grown children of her own Suzanne wanted to give back to the area children. Thus, she can be heard on occasion shouting, "go seniors go" at area soccer fields as her company For Seniors Only helped sponsor a team of seven year olds.In addition to, 'For Seniors Only' is a proud member of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.
To end, Suzanne Belfry has a special gift.Too often seniors are deprived the care and attention they truly deserve and that is not acceptable to Suzanne. The patience you have with your young children, Suzanne and her staff bring to their elderly. Her experience has touched the lives of so many people.Keep up the great work Suzanne.
