On Friday, First Street Playhouse board president David Belew stood behind the selection of Ann Marie Weinert for the job, but also said the theater must "be careful about public perception" relating to Weinert.

"There was nothing wrong with the choice," Belew said."We just have to do a little more background checking. It's the perception."
First Street Playhouse executive director Julane Sullivan on Monday told Belew and fellow board members that Weinert would direct the workshops, which have been run by different directors in recent years.
...
Belew said he was not bothered by the site.
"I don't know how awful her activities are," Belew said."It is not pornography.I didn't find anything offensive."
Belew went on to describe Weinert as a "talented director with a great eye," who has "other theatre credentials directing children."
...
"We are hoping she will direct one of the adult shows next season," Belew said.
