The Living with Grief conference is an annual, national event, said Angela Belew, bereavement coordinator for the Hospice of Bend-La Pine.
This year's topic , ethical dilemmas at the end of life , was chosen a year ago, but ended up being very relevant to recent events, including the death of Schiavo, a Florida woman who physicians believed was in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years.
"The Schiavo case and this conference happening at the same time has been helpful for us to open the door and talk about death," Belew said.
