    Richard Belding The 1999-2000 school year is Mr. Belding's third year at Green Fields. Most recently Assistant Head for Operations and sixth grade math teacher at Metairie Park Country Day School in New Orleans, Mr. Belding brings many years of independent school experience to his role as Head of School.

    Originally from central New Jersey, Mr. Belding graduated with honors from Princeton University in 1969. His first experience with private schools came in 1971, when he began teaching and coaching at the Wooster School in Danbury, Connecticut. He later served as the treasurer of Wooster's Board of Trustees. Mr. Belding's next private school role was as Business Manager, Director of Development, and math and science teacher at Trinity School of Midland, Texas. From 1981 to 1984, he held the position of Director of Business Services in the office of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

    In 1985, Mr. Belding joined John Esty, President of NAIS and David Rockefeller, Jr. in founding Recruiting New Teachers, Inc., (RNT) an organization which seeks to improve the public and private school teaching force through the use of public service advertising and policy initiatives. Mr. Belding continues to serve as a board member and treasurer of RNT.

    Mr. Belding's next challenge was as Executive Director of Independent Educational Service, Inc., (IES) a non-profit service organization for the recruitment of independent school teachers and administrators.

    In addition to remaining on the Board of Recruiting New Teachers, Mr. Belding is also a board member of New Jersey Seeds, an organization dedicated to helping financially disadvantaged New Jersey students attend independent schools. His hobbies include running, reading, and travel. He is married and has two stepdaughters.
