   Matt Belcher is the president and founder of Belcher Homes, the St. Louis area's leader in environmentally-friendly home building, specializing in high-end custom homes, construction consulting and real estate investing.
   
   Belcher currently serves on the board of directors for the Greater St. Louis Home Builders Association and is a member of both the US Green Building Council's St. Louis chapter and the National Association of Home Builders' Green Builder Subcommittee. Broadening his role with the NAHB, Belcher was most recently appointed to the NAHB's Energy Committee.
   
   Belcher is currently working with the St. Louis Home Builders Association to bring a locally-relevant green building program to the area.

   To jump-start sales, many builders are resorting to incentives, such as upgrades in features and price discounts, said Matt Belcher, president of Kirkwood-based Belcher Homes and immediate past president of the Home Builders Association of St. Louis & Eastern Missouri.

   Matt Belcher is an experienced and nationally-recognized consultant on the subject of green building. He has been actively involved in the St. Louis area residential construction industry for nearly three decades, including six years as a top building codes official in the St. Louis region. He founded Belcher Homes in 1993, specializing in building Sustainable "green" homes and light commercial construction and Low-Impact Development. He is committed to the "whole building" design approach, the philosophy that every decision should be made in the context of what else it may affect in the construction and ecosystem. Mr. Belcher serves on NAHBs Green Building and Energy sub-committees and the Board of Directors of The Green Building Initiative. Mr. Belcher was elected President of the Home Builders Association of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri for 2007 after serving on its Building Codes committee for fourteen years, seven as Chairman. Mr. Belcher was instrumental in helping to organize the St. Louis HBA's green building effort and has served as its chair for the past three years. Mr. Belcher has also lent his expertise to lobby for green building legislation, advising on managing legal risks associated with green building, assisting other HBA's in developing green building programs, and promoting building practices shown to create homes that are safer, cleaner, more energy-efficient and better for the environment.
