Genot's tall tales took something away from legitimate veterans, said Alan Belcher, a psychologist who works with veterans and who fought with the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.Belcher is president of Transitional Living Services, a Hebron shelter for homeless veterans for which Genot served as a board member for several years.

"What is really, really regrettable here is that you have many, many men who served and served honorably and served their country," Belcher said.
