Current Lower School parents are invited to join Lower School Head Amy Belastock for a discussion about science instruction in the Lower School.
...
It is with the greatest pleasure and excitement that I announce the appointment of Amy Belastock to be the next Head of the Lower School.
Currently Head of the Lower School at Marin Country Day School (MCDS) in Corte Madera, California, Amy will bring a wealth of experience with her.She is familiar with Shady Hill, having trained here in our Teacher Training Course (Class of 1997).She will provide the perfect blend of fresh perspective combined with an understanding of the school's history and traditions.
Amy received her B.S. in Child Studies and Psychology from the University of New Hampshire, and holds a M.Ed. from Lesley College/Shady Hill Teacher Training Course.Since receiving her master's degree, she has spent her entire professional career at MCDS, as a first grade teacher and then as their Lower School Division Head.Amy quickly became a stand-out in an exhaustive search process that produced one of the finest candidate pools I have seen. She knows and understands early childhood education (as I write this, she is part of a group in Italy studying the great Reggio Emilia early childhood programs), is a warm and effective administrator, and has a deep commitment to the principles of equity and justice.Besides the draw of Shady Hill, she made the choice to come East because her family is here in New England as well.
