Dr. Jacques Belanger is a Managing Engineer in Exponent's Fires & Explosions practice, and is based in Irvine, California.Dr. Belanger performs investigation and analysis related to fire and explosion.His expertise in those areas includes large-scale testing and computational simulation.Dr. Belanger also specializes in unsteady processes, including deflagration, detonation waves, shock waves, blast wave, and waterhammer, and their effects on equipment and structures.He also works in the field of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and gas dynamics associated with gas releases and combustion processes.

Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Belanger was an Assistant Professor in the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics Department at the University of Minnesota.He also worked as a research scientist at the California Institute of Technology, where he worked on advanced propulsion systems for the aerospace industry.He also participated in the development of large numerical codes when he worked at TAO Simulation and performed large scale tests at ONERA-CERT.Dr. Belanger is a registered professional mechanical engineer in the state of California.

Dr. Jacques Belanger is the Vice President of Engineering for Cool Earth Solar.Prior to joining Cool Earth Solar, Dr. Belanger was a Managing Engineer in Exponent's Thermal Sciences practice.Before Exponent, Dr. Belanger was an Assistant Professor in the Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics Department at the University of Minnesota.He also worked as a research scientist at the California Institute of Technology, where he worked on advanced propulsion systems for the aerospace industry.

Prior to his Ph.D. work at the California Institute of Technology, he participated in the development of large numerical codes when he worked at TAO Simulation and performed large-scale tests at ONERA-CERT.

Dr. Belanger is a registered professional mechanical engineer in the state of California.He also holds the following professional credentials:
