January Beacon of Light: Jackie BelangerILHS Guidance Counselor, Jackie Belanger was awarded the Beacon of Light at the January 14 board meeting.
Mrs. Belanger has served the Inter-lakes High School District for the past sixteen years and has been an integral part of the development of an outstanding guidance program.During her years at Inter-Lakes, Mrs. Belanger worked with to develop and implement a comprehensive guidance program at the high school level.She has consistently coordinated the high school SAT and Advanced Placement testing, and was last year recognized for her ten years service to the College Board Program.Jackie has mentored new counselors, served on numerous Lakes Regions guidance committees, and most recently provided information and insight to me in my new position as Guidance Director.
She has also shared her knowledge, expertise, and experiences with faculty, students, and parents.Jackie Belanger has served on the Best Schools Leadership team, helped to coordinate and track students participating in the FEET internship program, and has volunteered to be an advisor for the on-going "Close Up" program, annually taking a group of high school students to Washington, D.C.Jackie Belanger is a member of the American School Counselor Association, the New Hampshire School Counselor Association, and the New England Association of College Admissions Counselors.In 2002, she was elected to the College Board Financial Aid Division Advisory Committee to represent the state of New Hampshire.
During her years of service Mrs. Belanger has provided counseling, informative ideas, and compassion to the many Inter-Lakes students who have met with her.She has helped make Inter-Lakes a creative, informational, and student-centered environment.She is retiring at the end of this school year.
