Matt Beland
I was lucky enough to find my soul mate , Matt. We met each other at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1996. I figured the only way he'd talk to me was if I ran him over with a bobsled. It worked. We met up again when we were asked to go to Washington D.C. and represent the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce and lobby for the International Space Station. We spent 5 days in D.C. , and discovered we had much more in common. When we came home , we began dating.
...
My folks took it well , particularly when Matt asked them while one was still under the effects of surgery. We were married May 10 , 1997 , in Minnesota. Several adventures then began. Matt introduced me to canoeing , camping as well as computers. He began his career as an aerospace engineering intern for a small company working on the X-33 project. He was also drafted by the same company to set up the network , thus confirming his interest in computers in the work place.
After several frustrating months , we decided to move to Chicago to finish school , and gain more work experience. We were both hired by Business Logic where he was a junior systems administrator and I was the administrative assistant. He was later given the opportunity to move to Mesa , Arizona , and work for a start-up company as a senior systems administrator. After spending a year in the dark city , we both agreed that we needed a bit more light. Boy was that a mistake. With the light comes the heat. Matt became part fish and spent a large portion of time in the pool , or hid out in the server room with the super cooling system. Matt's skills as a systems administrator grew leaps and bounds. He began branching out to different OS's ( UNIX , Solaris , NT , and Linux ) as well as building firewalls , routers and his favorite hobby , making spare part computers.
We currently live in Bothell , Washington , were he is a Senior Systems Consultant for AT&T Wireless. We are enjoying the wet , rainy weather together , and take long strolls in the local parks. He is beginning the Conestoga Project and is always looking for more spare computer parts.
