21. Reverend Dale R. Beittel
Reverend Beittel served King Avenue from 1982 to 1984. Reverend Beittel was raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and educated at Carnegie-Mellon University, Lebanon Valley College and the Yale University Divinity School from which he received the Bachelor of Divinity and the Master of Theology degrees. He pursued graduate studies in Ecumenism (Boston University Divinity School) and Creative Writing (McCormick Theological School and Hamma School of Theology). Rev. Beittel also participated in studies at Rutgers University Summer School of Alcohol Studies for Counseling with the Alcoholic, which were sponsored by the Ohio Department of Mental Health. While serving part time as chaplain at Flower Methodist Hospital, he interned at Boston City Hospital and the Pratt Clinic of Boston which led to his accreditation by the American Protestant Hospital Association as a Professional Hospital Chaplain.
Mr. Beittel held student pastorates near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and New Haven, Connecticut, and full time appointments in Oak Park, Illinois and in the West Ohio Conference since 1950.
Reverend Beittel and wife Barbara are currently retired and living in Marietta, Ohio.
