While other health care systems have been drawn in recent transactions to floating- and auction-rate and swap contracts, BJC found long-term rates favorable enough to stick with a traditional structure, according to Suzanne Beitel, the J.P. Morgan investment banker working on the transaction.
The system, which operates 11 hospitals in Missouri and southern Illinois, delayed the serials until 2016 in order to fit repayment of the bonds into its larger debt portfolio of $466 million. "They maintain level debt service with relief" on the longer maturities, Beitel said.
