    Daniel D. Beintema Interim Vice President of Community Partnerships and Director, San Diego Regional Disaster Fund

    Dan Beintema has joined The San Diego Foundation as the Director of the San Diego Regional Disaster Fund, and is responsible for the overall management of the post-2007 firestorm survivor recovery infrastructure.

    He also currently serves as Interim Vice President of Community Partnerships, the component of The Foundation responsible for administering the various internal grantmaking programs of The Foundation.

    Dan brings diverse management experience and proven leadership to both roles. Prior to The Foundation, he spent ten years as the Director of the Chula Vista Nature Center. From 1990 to 1998, as a member of the senior management staff for the City of Chula Vista, he was assigned to five different departments to directly support the city manager and the city council.

    Beintema spent seven years serving as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, first as a member of Air Anti-Submarine Squadron 33, followed by duties as an advisor and personal aide to the Commander, Naval Base, San Diego.

    Dan received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Southern California, and went on to be commissioned in the United States Navy.After flying the S-3A Viking on two sea tours aboard Kitty Hawk, he enjoyed an assignment as Flag Aide to three different Admirals in San Diego before leaving Active Duty with the rank of Lieutenant Commander and numerous personal decorations.

    Following a year with the American Red Cross as Director of Public Information and Resource Development, he began work for the City of Chula Vista assisting in the management of construction for the Norman Park Senior Center and the Chula Vista Youth Community Center.In 1991, he was offered a position in the Chula Vista City Manager's Office, managing special projects and coordinating the City's Legislative Program.In 1994, Dan was promoted to a position in the Fire Department as the management assistant to the Fire Chief, coordinating the budget, capital improvements, and equipment procurement.

    In 1998, Dan was assigned to his current position as the Nature Center Director.It is here that he has been able to culminate the human resources management, project management, fundraising, and internal City coordination skills which have been garnered from the various professional experiences.
