Dr. Helen Beinart is Clinical Director on the Oxford Course and Consultant Clinical Psychologist working with children, young people and their families in a primary care setting in Oxfordshire. She qualified from the Institute of Psychiatry in London in 1979 and has worked in the NHS for the past 28 years as a clinician, service manager, consultant, supervisor and trainer. She is a Supernumerary Fellow of Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford. Over the past 12 years, she has been involved in clinical psychology training and supervisor training. Prior to this she was Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Head of Service for two Child and Adolescent Health Services in Aylesbury and Kingston on Thames. She has chaired the Division of Clinical Psychology Faculty (previously Special Interest Group) for Children and Young People and was involved in providing the psychological evidence to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Children's Mental Health on behalf of the British Psychological Society. Her research interests include meeting the psychological needs of children in primary care and the development of effective supervisory relationships. She is currently involved in researching the quality of the supervisory relationship from both supervisee and supervisor perspectives. Professionally she acts as a National Assessor for senior appointments to the profession on behalf of the British Psychological Society. She has held many posts within the Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) and is currently representative to DCP on behalf of Group of Trainers in Clinical Psychology. She has acted as external advisor and teacher to a number of courses and departments including Universities of Bristol, Hertfordshire, Canterbury (Christchurch) and Plymouth. She is currently External Examiner for University of East Anglia for the pre-qualification doctorate, University of Sheffield for the Post Qualification Doctorate and University of Bristol for the Post-Qualification Certificate and Diploma in Clinical Supervision.
