Both Jinny Haugen and Laura Beilke have new jobs.Jinny is still working at Essers but she is also working at BySys.Laura is now the Executive Director of Youth as Resources.We were advertising so many ticket sales today (wine tasting, Rally Up North Motorcycle tickets) that our illustrious sheriff jumped in to point out that he had more tickets than anybody!

Sertoman of the Day - Laura BeilkeLaura Beilke thought it was a perfect time to be Sertoman of the Day since she has just experienced the life altering phase called "the empty nest".Both of her children are now in college so she has expanded her interest to include a new business in June of this year.

When you look at her list of hobbies it is perfectly clear that she will excel at It Figures Fitness Center for Women.Laura is a huge exercise enthusiast who likes roller blading, cross country skiing, kayaking and biking.It is located in Baxter just west of Northern National Bank on Excelsior.The center has a whole new look and will feature circuit exercising, ellipticals, and yoga classes.

This doesn't mean that Laura is not still very involved with her job at United Way.She is the community impact director and plans special events, works with marketing, and communications.She has been there for three years.She is married to her husband of 23 years, Loren, who is General Manager for Nex-Light.She encouraged everyone to become and Ambassador for the Chamber which she explains is a very rewarding networking opportunity.She is a flag committee and has helped with hearing and vision screening.She is very proud of her GEM award.Her most embarrassing moment involved a trip to the state fair and a U-Care shopping bag.

Laura Beilke is an administrative assistant at Mid Minnesota BuildersLaura Beilke is an administrative assistant at Mid Minnesota Builders.She moved to Baxter three years ago and listed one of her hobbies as joining clubs, that explains how Rita Johnson persuaded her to become a Sertoman.She also expressed a sincere admiration for the job the Pipe and Drape crew do at the Builder's show.She grew up in West St. Paul and attended St. Cloud University.She has been married for 18 years to Loren and they have two children.Loren travels as part of his business and when he went to Europe for three months, he got to take the family with him.Laura is definitely an outdoors enthusiast with emphasis on winter sports like skiing and anything associated with the water.She ended her speech by remarking, "What I like about Sertoma is I can choose to make it a life long commitment.

Laura Beilke has been the Administrative Assistant at the Mid-Minnesota Builders Association for over a year.Her responsibilities include editor of newsletter, membership, a Home & Patio Show coordinator.Laura is involved with newcomers Club, Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce, and is married with two children.

Cheryal Lee Hills is the Executive Officer of the Mid-Minnesota Builders Association.Cheryal was awarded the Rachel L. Manley Executive Officer Leadership Award for the year 2000.She oversees all aspects of the MMBA.Cheryal is a member of the Central Minnesota School To Work regional council, the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce Public Policy committee, is currently working on the YMCA Charity Ball committee, has three children and is a co-owner of a local company: Community Sound & Security.

At the MMBA we strive to provide the best contractor's continuing education and Residential Construction Courses possible, to keep positive relations with government officials to enhance Smart Growth, and to provide many member networking opportunities that save time and money.Through the MMBA web site, newsletter and monthly meetings, information from the National Association of Home Builders and the Builders Association of Minnesota is provided to members regarding updated laws, codes and energy efficient technologies that affect the building trades.The MMBA Scholarship Golf tournament and the concessions at the Home & Patio Show support the over $4,000.Awarded to area recipients annually.
