Brief Biography:
Jim has a Bachelors degree from the State University of NY College of Forestry in Syracuse.He was drafted into the US Army and served two years in the infantry, 2nd Division.
Jim recently retired as a career (30 years) civil servant as the assistant state forester for NYS, where he found a connection between people and trees: no matter where people grow up or where they live.
Jim helped create NY State's first urban forestry program in the late 1970's, and learned at the 7th American Forest Congress in DC in 1996 that a connection exists between urban and community forestry.
He serves on the executive committee of the Communities Committee, Inc (formed at the Congress), on the the National Society of American Foresters diversity working group, on the board of directors of the NY Forest Owners Association and is the vice chair of the Environmental Awareness Network for Diversity in Conservation, Inc. (EANDC).
