   Dr. Matt Bean is an associate professor at Western Illinois University in voice, musical theater and opera. He has also taught at Brigham Young University, Wichita State University and the University of Utah. He holds D.M. and M.M. degrees in voice from Indiana University and the Manhattan School of Music and a B.A. in musical theater from Brigham Young University. In addition to singing, Bean stages opera, conducts musicals, publishes articles, composes, and arranges, presents and workshops. A bass-baritone with an extensive range, he is an expert on pop and belt vocal technique as well as classical. Bean has published extensively in "The Sondheim Review" and the "Journal of Singing," Local audiences have seen him on the WIU stage as Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and with the KGS in its 2002 pops concert.
