    Through the broad range of her voluntary work in both Pickens County and the State of SC, Amanda Bauknight represents the very definition of conservation ethics.Although she lists herself as a timber and cattle farmer, those are merely sideline ventures to this Easley woman's tireless work in a range of conservation projects.Amanda has served as chairman of the Pickens County Soil and Water Conservation District, chairman of the SC Conservation Districts Operations Committee, State Secretary of the SC Association of Conservation Districts and a member of the its finance committee.She was instrumental in securing a continuation of adequate State funding for the 46 County Conservation Districts.She leads a project to bring renewed attention to PCV and fecal bacteria contamination of Twelve Mile Creek.She regularly participates at Holly Spring Elementary School's Pioneer Garden and Greenhouse where she teaches conservation practices, mentors students and assists the teacher.She has assisted in the Pickens County Trash Bash recycling day and in the Conservation District office providing "conservation rewards" to over 80 local school children.Amanda also serves on the Board of Directors of Upstate Forever.Amanda is known far and wide as "the one to call" on conservation matters.Her love of the outdoors and her personal tenacity are a powerful combination that makes a measurable difference in the quality of life of her fellow man and conservation of our natural resources.She teaches Outdoor Ethics in the best way possible - by example.
