    Ricardo Bascuas is a 1996 alumnus of Yale Law School, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal. Following law school, he practiced for three years with Zuckerman, Spaeder, Taylor & Evans in Miami, specializing in commercial litigation, fraud and racketeering, and antitrust. He then clerked with Federal District Court Judge Adalberto Jordan in Miami, after which he became an assistant federal public defender, representing indigent defendants against federal criminal charges. He joined the UMiami faculty on a full-time basis as associate professor in Fall 2003, teaching in the areas of procedure and criminal law.

    Rick Bascuas, who teaches sports law and criminal procedure at the University of Miami School of Law, doesn't believe Saturday's brawl warrants criminal charges because no one was seriously injured.But, he said, the instance of athletes facing charges "will happen one day."

    "What you're going to need is a case where there's a really serious injury, where something comes up that was clearly outside the bounds of the customs of the game," Bascuas said.
