In addition to serving as AMHIC's captive manager, Chris Bartnik is the Chesapeake Region Health and Welfare Practice Leader at Wachovia Insurance Services. Prior to joining Wachovia Insurance Services, Mr. Bartnik was the Director of Vendor Relations for the Ahold USA Corporate Benefits Department. In this role he had plan design, administration, and vendor management responsibilities for health and welfare programs covering eleven operating companies with employee populations ranging from 150 to 20,000 lives (35,000 employees in total) and an annual budget in excess of $250 million. While at Ahold USA, Mr. Bartnik was the project leader for an enterprise-wide initiative to standardize benefit plan offerings and consolidate vendors that yielded savings of $11.5 million. He also oversaw the implementation of an outsourced benefits administrator with responsibility for enrollment, fulfillment, bill reconciliation and eligibility services.
Mr. Bartnik has also worked as an Associate for Mercer Human Resources Consulting where he worked with numerous local employers including Lockheed Martin, Bureau of National Affairs, Ritz Camera Centers, Nextel, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and XO Communications. He has also held positions with New York Life, Oppenheimer & Company and Merrill Lynch.
Mr. Bartnik graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Insurance. He also received his MBA in Marketing and Finance from The Pennsylvania State University.
