    Congratulations to Lynn Bartlett, Nurse in the Emergency Room, on being named the recipient of the MDH APPLE Award for August 2005.APPLE stands for "Achieving outstanding Performance in Patient care, Leadership, Loyalty and Enthusiasm for MDH."

    Lynn became a Registered Nurse in 1988 and began her employment with MDH in the Intensive Care Unit on June 6, 1988.She began working in the Emergency Room in January 1996 in addition to her ICU duties.In April 1999, Lynn transferred primarily to the Emergency Room.Lynn continues to assume additional challenges in an effort to better herself and is currently enrolled in a graduate program for nursing at St. Francis College of Nursing.

    Lynn is well-qualified as a RN and possesses the skills necessary to function in the ER.One of her major strengths is her superior skill level.She is loyal and committed to her job and takes all assignments without complaint.She is effective at prioritizing patient needs and responding accordingly.Lynn is an asset to the department.

    One of Lynn,s most valuable attributes is her ability to understand and relate well to people.Lynn has compassion for her patients and keeps her focus on them.She is skilled at handling difficult circumstances and dealing with tense situations.Lynn is becoming one of the department,s experts on sexual assault issues and the care required for those difficult situations.She models team qualities like respect, helpfulness, and cooperation.Lynn is a very positive example for others to follow.

    Lynn,s peers think highly of her.One stated that she is ,enjoyable to work with, and is very polite and respectful of patients and their feelings.Other co-workers state they have worked with her for many years, in many situations, and have never questioned or doubted her ability.Another co-worker goes on to say she is ,an excellent ER nurse,.

    Lynn has three daughters, Anita, Jill, and Julie, and a grandson named Ross.In her spare time, Lynn enjoys remodeling houses and spending time with her family and her friend, Rick.
