Hunger 101 is an educational program that "deals with the whole issue of food," explains program coordinator Carol Bartlett. The curriculum includes activities and discussions tailored to educate children ages eight and above about what causes hunger, who is hungry, and how hunger affects communities. The second half of the program aims to empower children by exploring how they can get involved.Classes are given to scout troops, church youth groups, school classes, as well as children the food bank serves. In 1998, 1,500 students graduated from the program.
