Mrs. Carmen Bartlett

Carmen Bartlett, a program director for United Cerebral Palsy in St. Joseph, says she refers parents and others who need a hand to the agency.One parent who had a child with developmental disabilities called Mrs. Bartlett to say her son had a birthday the next day, but she couldn't leave the house to buy eggs to make the boy a birthday cake.

"She just needed a care team member to come in and rock the girl so the Mom can pay bills or make the birthday cake," Mrs. Bartlett says.

Volunteers for the program run the gamut from adults to teens.

"And hopefully, that will continue into their adult life," Mrs. Bartlett says.

The second award was the Professional with a Heart award, presented to Carmen Bartlett for her work over the years with consumers and their families.Carmen is the Director of Advocacy Services at United Cerebral Palsy.

The third award, the Making Great Strides Award, was presented to Jannel Morris for outstanding achievement.
