Bob Bartkowiak of Marquette, Leonard "Bud" Lawry of Midland, Kathryn Davis Messerich of Mendota Heights, Minn., and Dale Samar of Phoenix, Ariz. will be honored at an awards breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Bartkowiak will receive the Alumni Service Award for his contributions on behalf of NMU.He graduated from Northern in 1972 with a degree in accounting.He has volunteered extensively in the Marquette community and at NMU.A founding board member of the Marquette County YMCA, Bartkowiak now serves as its president.He is treasurer of the Economic Club, on the board of Catholic Social Services, and is past president of the Marquette Golf and Country Club board.He supports NMU by serving on the Development Fund Board of Trustees and as president of the Wildcat Club.Professionally, he is the owner of Bartkowiak Accounting and Tax Service in Marquette and is vice chair of the Independent Accountants Association.He received the Business Person of the Year Award from Rotary International and was recognized by the Upper Michigan YMCA with its Key Leader Award.
