   Robert Bartkoski is the superintendent. He succeeds Larry Geil, who resigned. Before accepting the USD 488 job, Bartkoski, 55, was superintendent of Comanche County USD 300 and principal of South Central High School, Coldwater. He retired from USD 300 effective July 1 and then began work in USD 488. Bartkoski received a bachelor's degree in health, physical education and recreation from Fort Hays State University in 1970. He earned a master's degree in guidance and counseling and health, physical education and recreation from Fort Hays State in 1972. His administrator certifications also are from Fort Hays State. He has taught or been a guidance counselor at Claflin; Wiley, Colo.; Minneola; and Bucklin. He also coached at Claflin, Wiley and Minneola. From 1979 to 1980 he was admissions counselor and women's basketball coach at Dodge City Community College and from 1980 to 1982 was director of admissions, director of the Student Union and women's basketball coach at the college. From 1982 to 1983 he was an admissions counselor there. His first job as principal was at Minneola, where he was also athletic director. He began work in 1998 in Coldwater as a principal and was named superintendent in 2001.
