   LeRoy Lester Frederick Bartelt of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. He was 83.
   
   Mr. Bartelt was born in Albion, Mich., and moved to Gainesville in 1968. He was assistant director of admissions at the University of Florida. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired career military officer.
   
   Mr. Bartelt earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also was a volunteer in Alachua County voting polls, a scoutmaster, and a member of the American Philatelic Society and the Gainesville Philatelic Club. He attended Grace United Methodist Church.
   
   Mr. Bartelt was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Susan S. Bartelt, and by his second wife, Kathleen H. Bartelt.
