Jeff Bartel is vice president of Corporate & External Affairs for Florida Power & Light Company, the principal subsidiary of FPL Group, Inc. Mr. Bartel has been awarded the Keys to the City of Miami for his leadership and contributions to the Miami community, and was given a special award by the United States Congress for his public service work after Hurricane Andrew.While a practicing attorney he was recognized as one of the country's best lawyers in The Best Lawyers in America® and Chambers USA, as well as in the annual listings of top lawyers published by Florida Monthly, the South Florida Business Journal, the South Florida Legal Guide and Miami Metro magazine.Early in his professional career, Jeff was also the recipient of the Up & Comer of the Year award from the South Florida Business Journal and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Mr. Bartel is chairman of the board of trustees and president of Gulliver Schools, the largest independent primary and secondary school in the Southeast.He also serves on the board of directors of Enterprise Florida, the state's official economic development agency, as chairman of Leadership Florida, and on the boards of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Free Trade Area of the Americas, the Beacon Council and its executive committee, the United Way of Miami-Dade, the Florida Grand Opera and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.Mr. Bartel also serves on the advisory board of Great Florida Bank, and is an active member of the Orange Bowl Committee, the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee, the Harvard Club of Miami and its Admissions Committee, the University of Florida College of Law Board of Trustees/Alumni Council, the Pinecrest Foundation, and as Life Trustee of the Vizcaya Foundation.He has served previously on the boards of the Childrens Home Society, the Urban League of Greater Miami, Do The Right Thing of Miami, the Camillus House Foundation and the Jackson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Mr. Bartel holds a bachelor's degree magna cum laude in government and economics from Harvard University, where he was named a Harvard College Scholar, and holds a law degree with highest honors from the University of Florida, where he was named the school's Darrey Davis Scholar and inducted into the University's Hall of Fame and Florida Blue Key.He also is a graduate of the Harvard Business School's program for senior executives.Mr. Bartel, his wife Caterina, and their daughter Lauren Gianna, reside in Coral Gables, Florida.
