    In agreement with their unanimous and enthusiastic recommendation, I am pleased to announce the new Principal for our school - Ms. Joan Barry.

    Many of you may already know Ms. Barry as she has been an active parishioner of St. Mary's for the past 18 years.She serves the parish as a greeter and Minister of Communion as well as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and the Capital Campaign Steering Committee.A dedicated educator, Joan has served as Assistant Principal at Mountview Middle School in Holden and Shrewsbury Middle School.More recently she served as Principal of Stony Brook School in Westford, and for the past two years has been Director of Professional Development for Teachers 21.With her wealth of experience and love for children as they grow and learn, I know that Ms. Barry will lead our school with enthusiasm and dedication.As school principal Joan will also serve as a member of the parish staff.When you see Joan in the coming weeks, be sure to offer her your congratulations as she assumes this important leadership role in our parish and school.

    Millennium School Principal Joan Barry will serve as the principal of the Stony Brook middle school when it opens.She is expecting 600 students the first year (200 each of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders).

    The new middle school, yet to be named, is built to hold 750 students, a limit which the school could hit in about five years, she said.

    WESTFORD -- Stony Brook School Principal Joan Barry will retire at the end of this school year, according to a press release.

    At last night's School Committee meeting Superintendent of Schools Stephen Foster would not say if Barry resigned because of Palkes.

    A press release e-mailed yesterday by the School Department stated: "Joan has been an educator for thirty-seven years, seventeen of which have been in an administrative capacity.The school system wishes her well in future endeavors."

    School Committee Chairwoman Betsy Andrews also declined to comment on whether or not Barry retired because of the Palkes situation.
